January 2003 Campout Information Sheet Fort Sill, OK Campout Departure Date: Friday, January 24, 2003 Gathering Time: 6:00 P.M. Departure Time: 6:30 P.M. Departure Location: RBF Campout Location: Fort Sill, OK We will enter the base together. Meet at the Circle-K convenience store (See attached directions) Estimated time of arrival at Circle-K: 11:00 P.M. To check on revised time of return: (Call the troop voicemail at 972-238-8722 ext 81) Return Location: Blockbuster (Plano & Arapaho) Special Instructions: We will be staying in the four person dorm rooms. Bring bedrolls, sheets, or a sleeping bag, and personal items including a towel. Do not bring cots, air mattresses, or ice chest. We will not be taking either trailer on this trip. We plan to put all personal gear in vans and suburbans; therefore please pack light. Back packs are not required. Forms required: 1. All scouts are required to have their parent or guardian sign a Release from Liability form, see attached. Due to John Benavides by December 9th, 2002. 2. All scouts and adults over 16 years of age will need a photo ID to enter base. 3. All drivers will need proof of insurance to enter base. Both the campout fee and Release from Liability form should be turned into John Benavides on December 9th or before. *Pager instructions: Dial pager number, it will beep a few times, enter the phone number you are calling from, then press the # key. Mr. Nichols or another Troop 81 adult will call you back at the number within approx. 10 minutes or less. Female adult leaders wishing to participate should notify John Benavides as soon as possible due to advance notification requirements for lodging. FORT SILL CAMPOUT Campout Cost Sheet Transportation and campsite fees: A. Transportation 400 miles (round trip) X $.25/mile X 12 cars = $1,200. B. Parking fees - none $ 0 C. Cost per site $ 0 D. It is planned that we will probably have 3 or 4 scouts and 1 or 2 adults per vehicle for a total of 5 people per vehicle. Recreational Facilities We will be allowed to use the base recreational facilities on a space available basis. Scouts will need to bring additional money to cover the cost of the use of these facilities. The facilities include: Indoor swimming pool - Free Youth Center - Free Racquetball courts Basketball Air Hockey Misc. other activities Theater -- $2.50 per adult/ $1.50 per child Bowling -- $2.00 per game/shoe rental Video Games -Approximately the same cost as it is in Dallas Special note to first year scouts: For those scouts who have not completed the first and second class swimming requirements we will try to complete these requirements on this campout, please bring clothes, etc. necessary to complete the requirements. If you plan to complete this requirement, please let John Benavides know. Depending on the weather and our schedule we might complete an orienteering course on Saturday afternoon. Special Uniform Instructions You will notice that class A uniform is required several times during the trip. Per your gray notebook a Class A uniform includes: Your brown scout shirt with appropriate patches Either scout pants or scout shorts If you choose to wear scout shorts you must wear the green scout socks Closed toe shoes, i.e. no sandals, etc. Your name badge (note a piece of paper with your name on it is not acceptable) Scout belt Red Troop 81 cap Coup beads Knot practice rope A pencil or pen Boy Scout handbook - trail to first class scouts only For this campout you do not have to include the following as part of your class A uniform: Neckerchief and tie slide The gray Troop 81 Notebook Scout knife Tote N' Chip and Fireman's Chit We will have a uniform inspection before you leave on Friday, January 24, if you are not in class A uniform you will not be allowed to go on this campout. Centerville Rd, Garland TX Approximately 1/4 mile north of LBJ (Centerville Exit) Used scout pants are $7.99 and used scout shirts are $7.99 Note the Troop 81 uniform bank and the North Texas Army Navy store have a limited number of items and they may not have the item you need in the size you need.
