Treasurer - Sharon Hood o October report - 3 month YTD income is $7600. Expenses are $5900. Variance from budget is a deficit of $212. o Annual dues are past due. Scouts who have not paid dues will not be rechartered in December. o Popcorn fundraiser - Cindy McCarthy - Scouts have earned over $700 in commission in this successful sale. Remember to have your son get his money turned in. o T-shirt fundraiser - Troop invested $2100 in T-shirts and have taken in $986 so far. - The PLC needs to get more actively involved in organizing sales. o Upcoming expenses - Supplies for patrol competitions during troop meetings: Bill Merriman estimates $10/meeting. - Merit badge supplies for Winter Camp: Ed Nichols does not have a cost estimate yet. Scouts will be asked to cover the cost of supplies that cannot be reused. - Waterproofing tents: This task is best done on a sunny day when the tents can be allowed to air out for a couple days before use (i.e., not on a campout). Cost will be several dollars per tent. - Troop Committee agreed to make it a troop policy that the CPR training required in numerous merit badges will be provided by the troop. The troop's annual budget included money for a CPR dummy. A $150 donation was received earmarked for this purpose. Also, a borrowed dummy may be available for some classes. Consumable supplies for CPR classes will be an ongoing expense. These changing circumstances require relooking at our budget needs in this area. 2. PLC - No report 3. Roundtable - Ed Nichols, Dan Lassiter o Dates for Wood Badge 2002 have been set. Wood Badge is the advanced training course for adult leaders. o North Trail District Dinner will be January 11. Contact Mark Steger for information about reservations. o Troops were reminded to be respectful of Scouts with learning disabilities 4. Campouts - Richard Carter o Hico - Larry Herrin - The Pyro Patrol was not present to brief the committee. - Date: 11/30 - 12/2. Theme is marksmanship. - Cost will be about $22. Campout money is due Nov 26. o Winter Camp - Mark Steger - Date: 12/27-31 at Camp Cherokee - This extended camp is the highlight of the year for many of the Scouts who attend. Besides all the camp has to offer, Troop 81 will teach a few select merit badge classes, including cooking and Indian Lore. Ed Nichols, Bill Scout, and George Kerr have volunteered to be adult leaders. Several more adults are needed. - $20 registration fee is due Nov 26 o USS Lexington - Dan Lassiter - Date: 1/26-28/2002 - Fees are due December 10. Cost is approximately $150, depending on the number who go. PLC is asked to choose a transportation option that allows as many Scouts who want to go to be able to. o Northern Tier 2002 - Rita Bonds - Troop 81 plans one crew for June 14-20, 2002 - There are one or two openings still being filled. o Sea Base 2002 - Mark Steger - Troop 81 has reserved two boats (Jul 4 and Jul 28, 2002) - 50% deposit is due November 26. o Philmont 2003 - Mark Steger - Troop 81 has reserved two treks (both Jun 21, 2003) - $50 deposit due in January, 2002 5. Meetings - Bill Merriman o The Troop will continue to encourage use of the patrol method. Suggestions for using troop meetings to accomplish this are welcomed. 6. Leadership - Tom Schob o Nothing to report 7. Advancement - Bonnie Branch o Eagles - Pat Kelly - Six Scouts are in process. Scott Kelly and CJ Carter have completed their projects. 8. Committee - Mark Steger o Troop 81 uses a Leadership Committee to identify candidates for adult leadership position for 2002-2003. Anyone interested in serving on this committee should contact Mark Steger. --- The next Troop Committee meeting will be December 12 at RBF, the second Wednesday in December instead of the usual third Wednesday.
