Calendar Aug 19: 6:30 PM Pool Party, tent sale, annual dues collected ($65) Aug 24: 3:00 PM meeting of patrol leaders to prepare new chuck boxes ... Sep 27: First campout 2. Treasurer - Sharon Hood o July report - 12 month YTD income is $41,329. Expenses are $40,891. Troop was in the black by $437.21 for the year. o Fundraisers - Cindy McCarthy - Cindy volunteered to investigate opportunities for fundraisers for the Scouts and for the Troop. - Patrols need to plan T-shirt sales for Labor Day weekend. Jesse Benavides agreed to organize this. 3. PLC - Jesse Benavides o PLC meeting was not held due to a miscommunication. o Pool Party - Jesse will make arrangements for refreshments and lifeguards. - Annual dues should be turned in at the Pool Party. Dues are $65 per Scout per year. (Annual dues for Scouts who will be inactive in the Fall because of Band are $45.) - Troop 81's tents will be offered for sale at $50 for new tents, $25 for used tents. Scouts are responsible for providing their own tents, so this is a convenient opportunity to get a tent and help fund Troop 81 at the same time. 4. Roundtable - Ed Nichols o Northtrail District Kick-off meeting - Ed Nichols attended. The 2002-2003 district program and calendar was presented. - All adults in Troop 81 are encouraged to take "New Leader Essentials" training, offered this year on the evening of Sep 19. This is an easy, one evening introduction to Boy Scouting. - All adult leaders in Troop 81 are encouraged to take the "Boy Scout Leader Basic Training." This is a multiple session program on Thursday nights, beginning Sep 26 and finishing with an overnight campout the weekend of October 19. 5. Campouts - Craig Christensen o September campout (Fox) - Dates: Sep 27, 6:00 PM until Sep 29, 4:00 PM - Theme: Water skiing at Lake Cypress Springs Anyone with a ski boat, please let us know. o Rest of 2002-2003 camping program Oct 26 - Fishing/Biking: Colbaugh Farm (Pedro) Nov 16 - Backpacking: Camp Cherokee (Moose) Dec 27 - Winter Camp (Baloo Bear - Ed Nichols) Jan 25 - Military: Ft Sill, OK (Badger) Feb 14 - Family Camp: Ft Parker SP (Baloo Bear) Mar 22 - Marksmanship: Herrin's ranch (Pyro) Apr 5 - One day patrol competitions (Mitchell Hampton) Apr 11 - Camporee (Baloo Bear) May 3 - Rapelling: location unknown (Shark) Troop needs an adult to take BSA training o Northern Tier - The troop has no plans for this canoe trip in northern Canada. o Sea Base - Paula Powell will coordinate this for Summer 2004. o Philmont - Mark Steger - Next installment of fees is due October 1. o Chuck boxes - Craig Christensen announced a decision to replace the troop's bulky wooden chuck boxes with new Rubbermaid boxes. A meeting will be held Saturday, August 24 at 3:00 PM to stock the new chuck boxes. Each patrol should have its patrol leader and another patrol member attend this special meeting. 6. Meetings - Dave Knust o Dave Knust announced the availability of the Troop's 2002-2003 calendar. Leadership - Tom Schob o On Sep 26, at the first indoor troop meeting of the year, we will have a one-on-one meetings between Scouts in leadership positions and the adult who will mentor the Scouts in that position. We still need a few more adults to volunteer for this. 8. Advancement - Bonnie Branch o Eagles - Brenden Kerr and CJ Carter are awaiting the return of their Eagle rank advancement paperwork from national headquarters. - Jay Herrin is ready for a Board of Review. - Scott Steger is ready for a Scoutmaster conference. - Ben Scott, Scott Bonds, Steven Schob, Jeff Collins, Travis Carter, Jordan Hoff are working on their project plans. 9. Committee - Mark Steger o Background checks on adults - No final decision has been made yet on the procedures Troop 81 will follow. --- Mark Steger
