Troop 81 Committee Meeting Minutes for Aug 18, 2005

Participants: Dan Lassiter, Ann Chorcoran, Jeanie Lawson,

1. General announcements:
 
    * Scouts needing leadership positions need to talk to Rick Montgomery
    * We need volunteers for School Night for Scouting
    	John to send separate email on topic.

2.  Reviewed and worked next year's calendar.

    Month - Activity - Planning patrol

    Sept 16-18  - Slippery Falls Scout Ranch in Reagan, Ok - Pyro patrol
       (Couldn't get Camp James Ray, Moved to alternate site.)
	Theme is Aquatic Adventure.
	Presented at PLC last Monday.  Being presented at troop
	meeting on August 22nd.

    Oct 14-16 - Fall campout - Shark patrol (Leff)
         Looks like we had the Camp Cherokee tower and just lost it.
	 Kathleen Leff and Brian Moore are securing a site.
	 Webelos may be invited to campout.

   Nov 4-6 - Horseback riding, Cowboy church in Terrell - Fox patrol
        Action: Kathleen Davis owns this; one nighter - move to a
          state park for Saturday night.   Lake Tawakoni - State Park

	In Terrell, camp in arena on Friday night.
	Horesback riding Saturday.  Saturday night -- move to a state park for night.
	Doing horseman MB that Saturday.  Class from 9AM-5PM.
	We need to find a state part for Saturday Night.  (Cooper state park?  Athena's state park.)
	Have a chili dinner?   We need to look to see what state parks are close:

	May have fly fishing lesson out there too.

   Dec 3rd - Lockin that night - Maybe Summit Gym or Group Dynamics 
   	John will be asking Charlie Rachuig to coordinate (using an ASPL to do work.)
	Brian Moore is trying to get reservation for Group Dynamics.

   Dec 26-31 - Winter Camp, Council - Baloo patrol
        Action: Craig owns and will gather details

	At camp Cherokee.

   Jan 13-16 - Lexington - Badger patrol  (Kerr did this last.)
	Leave Friday night; Saturday night is Lexington
	Sunday night is at Aquarium -- complete almost all of Oceanography MB
		except for a 500 word essay.
	Return Monday around 6:00PM.
	[Craig wants to talk with Steve about getting Webelos info on this.]

        Leave at night, drive all night, eat breakfast in Corpus.
        Maybe swim on the beach or play football, play volley ball, fish, fly kites.

    Feb 10-12 - Family campout, Fort Parker - Baloo bear patrol
 		Usually have Court of Honor at campout.
     	(Move to February 10-12th because it conflicted with Chamber
           music festival.)

    Mar 17-19 - Camporee, Camp Cherokee - Baloo
         Action: Randy Hood owns this

    Apr 21-23 - Marksmanship,  Mr. Marvin's place - Spartans
 
     	May change to Wisdom.
	Having trouble getting a camp site.
	Maybe Cedar Hill state park for camping?

    May - Climbing tower campout - Pyro
        Brian Moore is trying to reserve Cherokee tower
	for May 6th.
	Campout proposed date is 5-7th.

    June 12-18 - Sea Base - Moore is coordinating
        Next payment due Sept 1st.
        Still have openings for youth and adults (Two boats)
	[Action: John needs to send an update mail to the troop.]
 
 
    June ??? - Northern Tier - McCarthy is coordinating


    July 9-15 - Camp Constantin
         Action: Benavides to look for opportunities to
            move time up from last week of summer camp.
 
     	  Hunter to look into other opportunities.

    Philmont 2007

	Rich Montgomery is coordinating.
	Drawing is this fall.

 
3. Financials -  Jeanie Lawson,
       It is time for scouts to pay annual dues ($65).
       28 scouts have already paid their dues.

4. New Troop Cap/Shirt
	No update.
	Ask Kathleen Fuentes if you want to buy hats.

5. PLC - Hunter Christensen
	No update

6. Roundtable - Craig Christensen
	No update

7. Meetings - Bob Centola
	Bob has added Webelos visits on calendar.
	First two are Oct 3 and Nov 14th

8. Leadership - Rick Montgomery
	No update

9. New Scouts - Gale Marvin
	14 new scouts.  Great progress by many.
	Lots of advancement at summer camp.

10. Recruiting - Brian Moore
	Need to help with the School night for scouting.

	Yale - Aug 23rd.
		--- Brian, Charlie, Craig are possible adult helpers
	Dartmouth - Aug 30th -- David Dedesco, Rich Duval (Cub master)
		--- Weaver, Montgomery are possible adult helpers
	BigSprings - Sept 1st.  [Joseph Adria] --- Benavides, Craig
		--- Craig, Brian are possible adult helpers

11. Advancement - Bonnie Branch
      o Eagles - Pat Kelly
	Michel Hampton is racing to finish before 18th birthday.
	Casey Hodges is doing write up.
	Jimmy McCarthy completed project
	Goundary is close to his 18th birthday.

	Reports for Summer Camp MB partials needed.
	Craig said Cindy McCarthy was copying and distributing for all.

	Bonnie is coordinating merit badge sign up at next troop meeting
	for Monday night classes.

12. Misc
	Need totem chip and fireman ship classes at next camp.  -ASPL of camping
